I got a call from the auto body shop and my car is officially totaled. I'm not surprised, in fact I would have been more surprised if they told me it could be repaired.
Now I need to go get all of my crap out of the car which is going to be a blast because I have a ton of stuff in there. I live in a small studio with no storage so I keep all of my camping gear in the trunk of my car. I also have many mystery items such as a cake decorating kit. I don't bake cakes and I've never want to take up cake decorating so I'm wondering how or why that got in there.
The auto body people are going to think that I live out of my car. I mean I probably could with all of the stuff in there. My mother will be helping me with that on Saturday. I'll also collect my plates and say my last goodbyes.
Although I would like to get another car right away I don't think I can. I just don't have the money right now. My plan is to try to hold off until spring which will give me some time to save. By not having a car I should be saving at least $250 a month (between car insurance and my parking spot).
It won't always be fun but I live in Boston and can walk or take the T most places. Right now it seems like the best idea.
RIP little Hyundai. It's been a long 10 years.

Car accident
I was in a car accident last night. I'm not hurt, just a bit shaken up.
It was about 2 a.m. when it happened. I wasn't drunk and strangely enough the police didn't even ask. The area where the accident occurred is near a couple local bars so I assumed they would ask.
I was driving down the street when I felt something slam into the passenger side of my car. Someone heard the crash and came out to ask if I was ok. He also kept asking me if I was drunk and to make sure I keep my story straight. I told him I was fine, that I was not drunk. He said this a few more times which had me wondering if he had been in a drunk driving accident before. Why would you keep asking me and telling me to keep my story straight? I asked him if he saw the accident and he said he did not. He just heard it.
The police were there before I even got out of my car. They were very nice. One cop told me to use my phone and take pictures of his car. I'm glad he reminded me to do that because I was a little scatter brained after the accident. The other driver was standing and walking around but then was put on a stretcher with a neck brace on. I didn't talk to him since the police were there so I have no idea what he claims happened.
My car got towed since my right tire was damaged. There was also something leaking from under my car, possibly break fluid.
I think what happened is that he was reversing into the street to pull out of a parking spot when I was driving down the street. All the damage is on the right front side and it seems his damage is on his back left side, near his bumper.
I'm hoping that it will be clear that I wasn't at fault. I think where the damage is on the cars should show that as well as where are cars ended up after the accident.
I called Derek once I got home because I was freaking out a bit. He calmed me down and I went to bed. I have a splitting head ache today, I'm sure from stress. I now have to go down to the police station and get the police report. I also need to find out where my car was towed to. I'm sure it's going to cost me a fortune to get it out and towed some where else. Who doesn't love unexpected expenses!
This is the second time in a year that someone has hit my car by reversing into it. I wasn't at fault for that accident either. Car accidents just suck. Plain and simple. This is why I'm eating some pizza before I do anything.

Hey whack-a-doole. A red light means stop, not reverse.
Driving home from dinner with my cousins last night I got in a car accident. I was sitting at a red light singing along to the radio when the SUV in front of me starts backing up. Clearly the driver will stop, I think to myself. But the SUV is not stopping. I honk my horn...still not stopping!!! Then bam! The SUV is now stopped into the hood of my car.
Crap crap crap! I just want to get home and go to bed.
A middle aged lady with bleached blond hair and a shawl teeters over to my car on high heels.
"Oh wow I'm so sorry! I was backing up because I wanted the light to change and I was over the line and I thought the hood of your car was shorter."
For someone who claims to have seen my car behind her she was reversing pretty fast. My hood is bent up and I have some scratches. Her SUV is fine. She continues to ramble.
"Is your car new? I mean it doesn't look new but maybe this will be good, you'll get it fixed up nice. How old are you? You look 12. Oh I'm so sorry. Do you have a pen? My insurance woman Mary is great. Just tell her my name and she'll know who I am."
My response: "I'm 27."
This woman does not stop talking. And why does Mary the insurance lady know her so well? I was really wondering if she was on something because this lady was whack-a-doodle. Or it's possible that she's just a natural whack-a-doodle.
The most important thing as that no one was hurt and I was able to drive my car back home. I don't want to drive it far since I don't know if there is any other damage besides the hood. I take the T to work so I don't need to drive my car right now. I filed a claim with my insurance company today because this is one thing I don't want to procrastinate on and trust me I am sickeningly good at procrastinating.
Please explain the accident
Well this lady is a whack-a-doodle and reverses at red lights.
