Twitter handle or phone number?

I read recently that guys should have a twitter account for picking up girls at bars.

If I was at a bar and I asked someone for their phone number and they gave me their twitter handle I would be a little insulted. To me that says "I'm not really interested and I don't want to give you my number."

Social media is great but let's not forget that real life exists too. Not everyone is on twitter and that's ok. I would never turn down a guy because he didn't have a twitter. You could be missing out on someone great.

If you like someone give them your number. If you don't, well I suggest giving your twitter handle.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Am I crazy?

Fun news. I'm still #sleepwalking

When you sleep alone you really have no idea how often you may or may not be sleep walking or talking.  Luckily Dave informed me that my sleep walking and talking is still around in full force.  Apparently I was holding my arms out and making distressing noises.  Dave grabbed my hand to see if I was ok and I shoved his hand away with a forceful "NO!"  Will I ever grow out of this?  Probably not.  At least I'm not moving stuff around in my sleep anymore.  It's fun to wake up and wonder why your jewelery box was moved to the opposite side of the room.  Hint:  It's not ghosts.

So the weekend.  Pretty good.  It was suppose to rain the whole weekend but it was actually pretty nice.  My mother stopped by for a bit and I helped her set up her new phone.  She's upgraded to a smart phone but refuses to have texting in her plan.  I don't understand why she's so anti-texting.  My mom also doesn't see the point of using social media.  It's not for her.  She's asking me what apps I have and I know she's not going to want any of them since most involve social media.

My mom does want one thing for her new phone- The Son's of Anarchy theme song as her ring tone.  Yep, that's my mom.

Social media makes my day again.

I took this photo on the way home from work today.  I love love love taking pictures of sky.  I realized this while going through my iphone photos.

And in it's a small world category - I was walking to the drug store and came by some awesome art on the side of a building in Allston.  I almost took a picture of it but I didn't feel like stopping.  While I was on the T a few minutes later looking at random instagram photos I saw a picture of the building art that I just walked by!  I commented on the photo with a "I was just walking by there!"  I'm sure the girl thinks I'm crazy but that's fine, I had to let her know.

It's a small world and the internets makes it smaller.

FACT: I'm kind of a #nerd

I pretty much died when I saw this (see more tv shows here).  It's just so much awesome.  I really wish I could have a direwolf as a pet.   I don't think my direwolf would appreciate my small studio apartment in the city.

You guys I'm kind of realizing how much of a nerd I am.  I pretty much did a little dance in my chair when the Guild came back with new episodes, I really have the urge to play Halo right now and I'm blowing through Dr. Who on Netflix.  Nerd for life!

My co-workers think I'm a nerd due to my love of all things social media.  They know I love blogging and that I went to Vegas to meet up with a bunch of bloggers.  I openly talk about it.  I tried to explain what foursquare is but I just got blank stares.  They also had no idea what I was talking about when I said I was featured blogger on 20sb.  I mean these are important things folks!

How do people in your life react to your social media usage?

I don't get you foursquare

Ok I get foursquare but I don't get it.  Got it?  Yeah....

I know I sound like a grandma here.  "What's this Foursquare thing?  What is the Facebook?  In my day we read paper books not face ones!"  I enjoy talking like an old person way too much.  Just ask Melissa about my old Ginny impression.

I do know what Foursquare is.  I know you can check in somewhere and if you check in more than anyone else you become the mayor.  I was also informed that sometimes you can get deals for being the mayor.  Well I like deals and I've never been the mayor of anything so maybe I should give this a shot?

Before I do, I have a few questions for you Foursquare users.
  1. Do you get a top hat when you become the Mayor?  I feel like I won't care unless I get a top hat.
  2. Do people Foursquare stalk you?  Like, "Hey I saw you were at your OBGYN so I thought I'd swing by and say hello after you got your lady parts checked out."
  3. Does anyone actually check into their OBGYN?  That would be creepy.
  4. Do you check into your house?  If so.  That is dumb.  This is a question/statement.
  5. Have you met anyone in real life that you met through Foursquare?  This, I think would be awesome - unless they are stalking you and/or are not hot.
I'm on pretty much every social media site.  Do I really need to add Foursqaure to the list?  Getting deals and possibly becoming mayor with a top hat is quite the incentive though.

Thoughts on Foursquare?
