Apparently Kelly's Roast Beef in Allston is closing. If you haven't been to Boston you are missing out on Kelly's. It is full of amazing deliciousness. According to the article they are closing the Allston location because sales are not what they expected.
You're going to make me go to Revere to get a roast beef sandwich? I'm am not going to Revere for a roast beef sandwich! There is no reason to go to Revere ever. Have I not eaten massive amount of sandwiches and onion rings? Come on Allston hipsters! Can't you stumble out of Great Scott drunk on PBR and shove a roast beef sandwich in your mouth? I don't care if your vegan this is important!
I am not a happy camper. I guess I need to make a Kelly's run before Sunday.
You probably don't want to hear this, but I'm not a big fan of Kelly's. =X As a carnivore, it still sucks that it's closing. I'll bet the hipsters are responsible though, they are "toooo cool" to eat meat. Pfft! I'm going to start an anti-vegan campaign. Telling all the hipsters that being vegan is super popular and trendy, maybe that will save the meat? That's it, I'm getting T-shirts made! I may also invest in some pork chop shaped hipster glasses.
ReplyDelete"SAVE THE MEAT!"
Maybe you could go to Medford instead? Isn't it closer than Revere?
ReplyDelete@Germana - sign me up for a t-shirt please!
ReplyDelete@Katie - It's just that the Allston one is so close to me. I'm usually not in the Medford area although it's probably closer than Revere.
Are hipsters really to blame here? So how does soul fire, a meat-centric bbq spot a half block away not only survive but thrive? I think that it is Kellys lack of a drive through, awkward setup, paying 8 dollars for a RB sandwich that is just ok. Too many other food alternatives in the area that are just cheaper and better. Kellys is designed for the burbs and it just doesnt work here. Also no cheddar chese? Are you kidding me? your making me put provolone on my RB sandwich with horseradish sauce? Inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteAlso once Kellys does close try Roast Beast on Comm. Ave (near the brighton and comm intersection). Similar in price but much better and they have goddamn cheddar cheese!
ReplyDeleteI just like blaming the hipsters. Soul fire is cheaper so I'm guessing that's why they do so well. One thing that I like about the Allston Kelly's is that it's cleaner than a lot of the other restaurants. I don't feel dirty eating there. I'll have to try Roast Beast. I forgot about that place. And I agree that cheese options are important.
ReplyDeleteSoul Fire is awesome. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteIt always sucks when something like that happens. There's a sandwich place near me I love, and I'd be sad if they closed down. Awesome, and cheapest, sandwiches I know.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest, everyone just misses Marty's Liquors.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I totally miss Marty's!
