I've been re-watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix instant and I keep having flashbacks to a high school dance where the guy I was dancing with whispered to me "I feel like I'm Dawson and you're Joey." So if you hear me cracking up in the middle of an episode I just remembered that line again.
Also, this guy was my friend's boyfriend.
Also, I did NOT want to dance with him but she insisted.
Also, I think Germana witnessed this whole event.
Also, said friend got pregnant by him when she was 17.
LOL

I miss school lunch.
School lunch has come up twice this week and I miss it. Our high school may have not been updated since the 50s (fallout shelters anyone?) but our school lunch was awesome.
The highlight of my high school cafeteria were the french fries and gigantic chocolate chip cookies. Germana ate this every day for lunch. Sometimes she would add an Italian sub to the mix. I would usually eat the "crust" of Germana's cookie because she liked the middle part with 10 sticks of butter.
Next we had the hot lunch. This changed daily and people went crazy over a McRib like sandwich.
Then we had subs. Usually turkey, Italian or ham and cheese. All pretty good. I usually went with the turkey.
If you wanted pasta we had the pasta station where you could get pasta with tomato sauce or mac and cheese where you could ladle on the cheese yourself. Disgusting to think about but really delicious. This also came with bread.
Last but not least was the snack shack. Want a churro? You can get that! We also had vending machines with soda, juice and snacks.
I'm sure if I went back to Waltham High today the french fries and giant cookies would be gone because we're trying to fight childhood obesity. But the funny thing it most people in my school were a normal weight. Something has changed besides our diets. I'm guessing we were more active. It took a long time for the AOL dial up to work.
My mother was also pretty healthy when it came to food shopping. We didn't have soda or chips unless it was a special occasion. So at home I was not eating junk. And being friends with Germana I got tons of homemade Italian food. YUM. I highly recommend befriended someone with Italian parents. I mean Germana was ok to hang out with too.
My point here is that I wish there was a cafeteria like this at my work and I'm a bit sad that the french fries are probably gone from Waltham high. Oh and eat lots of fresh pasta.

2002 was actually 10 years ago. I'm feeling a bit old.
It's 2012.
I graduated high school 10 years ago.
How scary is that? Well it's scary for me. I feel like the last 10 years were a blink. I'm sure there will be a reunion but I already know what everyone has been up to thanks to facebook.
I'll probably go so I don't have to feel old alone.
I think I'm going to treat myself to Starbucks this morning even though I'm broke. I'm feeling old and I tried to make french toast but had no syrup - I need a little treat.
Anyway, my new laptop is being a jerk. I blame Windows 7 which sucks. My laptop keeps freezing on me. A friend told me I probably need more RAM. How about we make a laptop that has enough RAM to run Windows 7 in the first place?
Sigh

The Last Vampire and why I'm glad I didn't read vampire books when I was in high school.
I read Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire over the weekend. It was a quick read and I really enjoyed it. I needed something good after the last book I read had a horribly disappointing ending.
I think it may be time to update the cover of this book though.
Sita is a fun character. She kicks some ass and is pretty much like I'm a vampire, I kill people because I need to, whatever. I'll be continuing the series. I can only hope that the book art is just as fantastic on the next book. Can someone tell me why Christopher Pike does not get the recognition he deserves? He has some really good books. If you don't believe me, check out the reviews on Amazon.com. As we all know, people on the internet never lie.
I'm glad I didn't read vampire books like The Last Vampire and Twilight in high school because I would have been horribly disappointed when that new kid turned out to just be the new kid and not some vampire who has the hots for me. One boy that had a crush on me is now in jail for stabbing someone twenty times over a cigarette. Don't be jealous Bella Swan.
