Anyone know how to save these jeans? Should I was them multiple times or Fabreeze them (and myself) to death? I'll try almost anything. Please help.

Readers, I need your help. These jeans stink! Literally
So I purchased a new pair of black jeggings from Old Navy. I still can't figure out how these are different from leggings but whatevs. Anywho when I opened the package I was hit with a stank. It smelt like burnt something and not like a good burnt something. I figured all would be well once I washed my new jeans. Nope, so very not well. Now not only do my jeggings jeans still smell, every other article of clothing washed with the jeans stinks too. I'm sitting here at my desk wearing a dress that I washed with them and I'm making myself nauseous from the fumes.
Anyone know how to save these jeans? Should I was them multiple times or Fabreeze them (and myself) to death? I'll try almost anything. Please help.

I once bought a sweater that was black but was treated with a chemical to make the top part lighter. I washed it and even still it made everything in my closet smell weird. I washed it a few more times and wiped down the drawer in my closet that the sweater was in. It's fine now.
ReplyDeleteRe: Febreeze, that stuff doesn't actually remove a smell from a garment, rather it just changes the chemistry in your nose so that you don't smell it anymore. I'd recommend washing the jeans again with detergent, baking soda, and some Borax. Should do the trick!
A good dry cleaner might not be a bad idea, and some of them aren't priced too too bad (definitely cheaper than new pants!)

ReplyDeletemaybe dry cleaning might be the best option. I'm sure they deal with stinky stuff all the time.
