Every time I'm in the supermarket I walk by this microwave omelet pan and think hmmmm that looks like a damn good omelet, maybe I should try it out? It's 2.99 so really how bad of an investment can this be? I finally picked one up to try to make the perfect omelet.
The actual making of the omelet was pretty easy. You mix two eggs and divide it between the two compartments. Pop it in the microwave, stir, add your toppings and pop it in again. Ta da! Perfect omelet!
Or not..... :(
This is just straight up nasty looking. Still mushy in the middle and over cooked on the edges. I took one bite and threw it in the trash along with the microwave omelet pan. I did eat the English muffin. What a fail.
Well as long as you got an English muffin out of it. I can scramble an egg in a microwave but I'm not sure I'd try making an omelet in one. Typically though the gadgets that I use to make them in microwaves work out okay.
ReplyDeleteEw. Eggs + microwave = nastiness in your mouth. It's a good way to make something that is not supposed to be dry and crunchy turn dry and crunchy. Kudos to you for trying, though.
ReplyDeleteI've never owned a microwave...
ReplyDeletewhat!!?
DeleteThe poached egg microwave contraption works quite well, just for future reference.
ReplyDeletegood to know.
Deletehahaha I've tried to cook things like that with a microwave too. Total fail, I'll never do it again haha.
ReplyDeletecheck out my blog! :) http://prettypositive92.blogspot.com
ugh.
ReplyDeleteI have one of these! There are a good few tricks to get it to work properly. First of all - two eggs is so not enough. Also after a bit of heating you have to close it so the omelette comes together and is one chunky omelette and not two flimsy halves... it's pretty complicated. I don't use it.
ReplyDeleteI do however use my microwave egg boiler ALL OF THE TIME. It is amazing. Takes forever, but fuck it, it's easier than boiling them in a saucepan.
yeah I tried to close it but the egg was sticking!
DeleteThat egg picture made me a little gaggy. No to the microwave omelet thing, then. Thanks for trying.
ReplyDeleteDid you close it when you microwaved it?? I have one of those and it works like a charm. I just put the eggs and all the ingredients on one side, close it, and zap it. I agree with Ally: the poached egg device works even better. (I cook a lot with my microwave...)
ReplyDeleteIt didn't say to close the pan until it was done cooking. Maybe that was the problem. I still think it would end up turning out like crap.
