It recently came to light that my cousin has been stealing from her father (my uncle) and her step mother. My aunt has no reason to lie about this. My uncle and her have done a lot for my cousin and she turns around and steals tupperware and towels and who knows what else. What's sad is that my aunt and uncle would buy her those things if she asked. She is also completely denying it, trying to make my aunt look like she's a horrible person for accusing her. I mean what are the chances that my aunt is missing two light house towels and two of the same exact light house towels end up in the back of her closet?
Now she is complaining on facebook that her family has turned against her and is accusing her of "being a klepto". Why would my aunt and uncle make this up? There is no reason to. I have not said anything to her because we are not very close. I see her at family functions but we don't spend time together otherwise. I feel like if we were closer I would tell her to cut the crap and get some help. Stealing from your family is a big problem.
And what really drives me crazy? She told my aunt over the phone "well you have a lot of stuff anyways". My aunts response "well it took me 53 years to acquire all of my stuff".
I probably shouldn't be talking about this on my blog but I am dying to comment on her facebook status and can't. It would just cause problems and it needs to be worked out between her and my aunt and uncle. But it's killing me not to comment so at least I can write about it on my blog.
There, I think I got that out of my system.
That stinks. And why steal towels and tupperware?
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought, too. Of all things to steal, why those? But this cousin doesn't sound like the brightest crayon in the box.
DeleteI think she just wanted the stuff for her apartment. She also may have taken some more pricey items.
DeleteI would totally leave passive agressive comments on her FB status, but then I'm me.
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those in my family, too. She's caused an awful lot of trouble over the past few years. It stinks. If you ask me at the party next week, I'll tell you the juicy details. (Also, remind your aunt and uncle to shred any credit card applications they don't use.)
ReplyDeleteyou'll have to tell me about this.
DeleteAh, yes, the "I need to rant about family NOW" feeling. It's hard to bottle it up. :)
ReplyDeleteLor
Wow, she sounds like trouble. Is there something bigger going on with her? Maybe she is hurting.
ReplyDeleteshe is a recovering drug addict so I'm sure there are some underlying issues there.
DeleteWell why she steals is important. If she still has the towels then she's possibly not selling them, which is actually good. If she was selling what she stole it could mean drugs. I think though that you should get involved if you really want to. It's not fair on your aunt and uncle what she's doing so they could probably use all the people standing behind them they can get.
ReplyDeleteShe is a recovering drug addict and I hope she is not using again. I don't think she is but who knows.
DeleteWhat the hell is wrong with people? I couldn't imagine stealing from family!
ReplyDeleteWooooow.
