Back in the fall (Was it fall? Anyways, my point is - it's been a while) we noticed that our mail at work was being delivered to our box later and later. After calling the post office to find out what was going on we were told that we had a new mail carrier on our route so she was getting use to things.
We spotted our mail lady on the sidewalk outside of our building sitting down having a smoke. It's stressful getting use to things, I understand but this was on a day when our mail was already really late. Megan snapped a picture and it now hangs above our mail key. (This was for our own personal amusement we did not give it to the post office).
The mail situation has not been improving. Mail is still often late and the other day we just didn't get any. This is not normal. We called the post office to investigate again and we were told that our mail lady didn't show up today. Great! So is anyone covering for her? Are we ever getting mail? This is why we should still use carrier pigeons.
Now our mail is getting here at a semi normal time BUT we're getting everyone else's mail too! Mail that does not have our company name, our floor number or even the right building. I was a little annoyed so I brought that pile down to the post office and politely told them that none of this was our mail.
What are the chances it just ends up back in our box? Bets, anyone?

I can have brain?
Tired tired tired. I was supposed to meet up with Melissa for Starbucks but I just want to be a lazy bum. I need to be a lazy bum tonight. I'm sure the new assistant I'm training thinks I'm a scatter brain. I meant to say that the post office closes at 5:30 and I said 7:30. I corrected myself but only after she repeated "ok, 7:30" and I realized that I had said the wrong time.
Do you every have those days when you just feel like an idiot? You just can't get it together and you feel like everyone else can tell. That pretty much sums up how I've been feeling the past two days.
I made some couscous (note to self: do not get the plain couscous next time) and I'm going to veg out with some gymnastics. This is my plan but I'll probably get all worked up and really into it which is not how you relax. But at least I'm in my pj's and not wearing a bra and any stupid thing I say will only be heard by the cats.

A skill I wish I had (besides opening a beer bottle with my belly button)
My co-worker Lilly has an amazing skill. She can spot a professional athlete anywhere and she does not watch sports.
We were in Saks looking at sandals, well Lilly was because I can't afford a bobby pin at Saks, and this guy walks by us and I would have thought nothing of him but Lilly pointed him out.
Lilly: He plays for the Patriots.
Me: How do you know that?
Lilly: Well he's decked out in Patriots gear and I can just tell.
Me: This is Boston, there are tons of people decked out in Patriots gear.
Now this guy was not a huge guy. He didn't necessarily look like a football player so that makes Lilly's skill even more impressive. When we get back to the office we look at the Patriots roster and figure out that it was Patrick Chung. Someone get this girl a cookie or something!
I told my former co-worker Brian about this as I know he's a sports fan.
Me: I saw Patrick Chung today in Saks.
Brian: Did you say anything to him?
Me: No, what would I even say?
Brian: How about "thanks for ruining my Super Bowl."
I'm pretty sure if Tom Brady walked by me I would be like hmmm that guy looks like Tom Brady. I would never think it actually was Tom Brady. I always doubt my celebrity stalking skills while Lilly can spot a football player in Saks.

You do not make your own applesauce
Hello hello everyone.
I was walking home today and realized that I never told you guys about my awkward encounter this past weekend at a bar with a guy that I met last year at another bar. That's called being a bad blogger so I will tell you.
But first - this is what I've been doing.
Hiding in a hoodie, blogging and taking pictures of myself. I'm bored, cold and lazy folks. Some people do something productive when bored like knit cat sweaters or jar their own applesauce, but me I blog. Blogging saves me from boredom because I can tell you how bored I am and in turn I get that boredom out on the keyboard. Sorry kitties, sweaters for another time and go buy some applesauce! Only fake people on Pintrest pretend to make applesauce.
This hoodie is awesome because it's a work hoodie. It says matrimonial litigation rapid response team on the arm. I work for a divorce attorney and I'm covering the law firm logo in this photo because I don't need people knowing what law firm I work for. I do not wear this hoodie at work fyi, we are a professional office after all.
It is also GIGANTIC which is how a hoodie should be. I decided to get a little fancy here and cover the logo with a heart. How sweet, or barftastic. I love you all, deal with it.
Web cams make me look 12 which is kind of fun considering I'm almost an old maid.
Ok enough of pictures of me and rambling on about kittie sweaters and applesauce. Let's get to this past weekend.
Scene - Me, Melissa and D-man at the Abbey. I look across the bar and realize I recognize the guy sitting on the other end. That would be a guy that I met at a bar down the street and started ignoring after one date after I found out he was 18 years older than me and way too into me. Now it's fine when a guy likes me, in fact that's nice, but I just got this vibe that he liked more than he should for just meeting me. He just made me feel uncomfortable and that's the only way I could explain it. I think maybe I missed this vibe when I met him at the bar because it was dark and I had a few drinks.
I panicked a little when I saw him. I mean I completely blew him off. I then realized he was with some girl who looked about my age. I guess he likes them much younger than him. Him being with another girl made me relax a bit. Ok, he's with some girl so he won't come over here, and he didn't. I saw him look over though, he knew I was there. Good for you guy. I'm actually glad that you've found a lady friend. Just don't be creepily into her when you first meet and you'll be fine.
This is going to be a long week folks. I'm sorry this post was a little out there but that's where my brain is right now.

28 is just a number.
Tomorrow I turn 28. What the hell life? When did you start going by so fast?
I thought by 28 I'd be married with a kid or two. I also thought I was going to be a chemist and win a gold medal for swimming in the Olympics. Unfortunately this is actually written down in my sixth grade yearbook which my mother kept. Although I'm neither married nor an Olympic gold medalist I think I'm doing pretty well for myself. I have a good job with co-workers that I consider friends. I live on my own with two fur babies. I have the best family anyone could ask for and friends that I love. I have a boyfriend who treats me better than any guy I've ever been with.
Yes I'm firmly in my late 20s but I still feel like a spring chicken of 21. We all get older whether we like it or not. Let just hope I age well like a Helen Mirren. My mother still looks great so I have high hopes of being an older babe.
Look what I got from a client at work for my birthday.
It was really nice of this client to think of me especially when I've been busy working on their upcoming trial all week.
Saturday night is going to be a BLAST. Yep, all caps. That's how good my birthday at Golden Temple is going to be. Friends have already been telling me that they are super excited for my birthday party which is making me even more excited since everyone else is excited. Get it? GT won't disappoint.
Pictures to follow.
Perhaps a video from your favorite old blogger lady? I thought it might be fun if I answered some questions so ask away in the comments or e-mail me at ginnyissassy@gmail.com

Why am I awake?
It's 4:30 a.m. and I can't sleep. I've been awake since 3:30 tossing and turning so I finally gave up and decided to try to tire myself out by blogging. Sometimes I go through these little insomnia spurts. I probably wouldn't even call it that because I usually fall asleep pretty quickly but end up waking up at 4 a.m. for no reason. After I get up and do something for a little bit I fall right back asleep.
I was watching the Bachelor last night in bed and started feeling sleepy. Next thing I know I blink my eyes and I've missed the last fifteen minutes of the show. I was a bit confused until I realized that I must have fallen asleep. It was quite the narcoleptic moment.
I can tell this is going to be a crazy week at work. There are some big trials coming up that I'm working on so my normal (non trial related) work is getting a bit backed up. You have to have a gold medal in multitasking to work at a law firm. You can win one at the office Olympics. There will be paper cuts and blood.
In other office news, I can't wait until we get our new fridge. Not having one is really messing up my lunch plans.
Ok I'm going to attempt to go back to bed now.

I'm still not done shopping but I'm gonna eat my face off later so it's all good.
You're probably wondering what happened with my floor party Thursday. Well let me take a bite of this hot pocket and I'll tell you.
I'm a nosey person. I admit it. So it was exciting to peak inside the other offices on our floor. I had no idea that most of the people in the company across from us were attorneys or paralegals. The paralegals over there get their own offices. I'm all "check out my cubicle, it has a fish named Edward Cullen."
Yesterday should have been a quiet day but instead I ended pretty busy at work. I always end up scrambling to find a constable to have a subpoena served on Christmas Eve. I did get out early though and tried to finish up my Christmas shopping. I still have a few things to get today but I'm just going to go to Coolidge Corner and try the shops there rather than attempt the mall.
Dave is going with me to my aunt and uncle's Christmas party tonight. He has no idea what he's in for. I have a pretty large extended family. Lots of cousins and aunts and uncles. I'm use to it, Dave is shy and is not. He's a trooper though. Gotta love an extrovert introvert couple (I'm the extrovert, obviously). I told him there will be toasted ravs. I'm going to eat my face off and carbo load like I'm running a marathon. Yum.
I'd like to wish all my blog readers a Merry Christmas or Happy Kwanzaa or a Happy Christmas (if you're British). I'd give you all presents if I could!

Friday ramblings and holiday themed underwear.
I think I've found my Christmas spirit! I don't dislike the holidays but I feel like it takes some time for me to get in the festive mood. I'm looking forward to our company party next week and we're also having a party with the other businesses on our floor on the 22nd. The floor party is a new thing this year. The more parties the better I say.
I kind of want a tree but I live with two crazy cats that would make a contest out of who could knock over the tree faster, so instead I look out my window and enjoy my neighbor's tree. Hey neighbors! I'm only tree peeping, don't mind me.
I haven't started Christmas shopping yet but having the money to do so would help. I really need some new pants too. My jeans are looking pathetic. I'm pretty sure there is going to be a hole in the crotchal region soon and this is my best pair! Better double up on the underwear for protection.
I want fun holiday themed underwear now. Maybe ones that say "Ho Ho Ho" across the butt.

Carb fest
I'm half asleep and shoving a bagel in my mouth. Carbs and I are bffs when I'm tired. The guys at the venture capitalist firm on our floor invited us out for drinks last night. They are all married with kids but man can they hang! We had delicious pizza at the Salty Pig and then moved on to Clerys for a few and then I went with Megan back to her place and sat on her stoop with her three dogs. I was holding Carter like he was a cat. He thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am one tired lady this morning.
I was tweeting back and forth with my friend Chris on the T this morning. I met him at an AFI show a few years ago and we chased their bassist Hunter down the street for an autograph. He recently moved to California and he enjoys tweeting at Devon Sawa almost as much as I do. The whole point of this little story is that I love twitter and I love how it keeps me connected to people. Sure there's texting but texting doesn't have hashtags or Devon Sawa. Chris is a big fan of my hashtags. You should follow him because of all these things and because he'll probably wonder where all these new followers came from. @chrisautomatica
In my tired state I found this quote from Sara extremely funny.
"We went on a date and rode a roller coaster. I guess I even take things slow in my dreams. :) "
Still finding this hysterical. Happy Friday!

Mini pumpkin
My co-worker surprised us with little pumpkins on our desks.
So cute! So orange! I love it.
If you're wondering what's going on in the background there that would be the two lion statues near my desk. I am constantly surrounded by cats.

Work hard, play hard, with a dash of lazy.
Have I really not posted since Monday? That is very unlike me but work has been super busy and by the time I get home I'm ready for bed. But here I am, blogging in my pajamas. I think I've earned a lazy Saturday after my hectic work week.
Last night I ventured to Rhode Island to see a Pink Floyd tribute band called the Machine. Apparently they are the oldest Pink Floyd tribute band in the U.S. I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan but they were very good. Also, they have a female drummer which I think is pretty awesome. I made it home at 4 a.m. which is why I'm still in my pajamas being lazy. Dave had to work at 9 this morning. I feel bad for him.
Tonight I'm heading out to meet up with Suki who happens to be in town. I think a few other bloggers will be making an appearance as well. I'm definitely going to need a nap before tonight.
I plan on finishing Clockwork Angel at some point this weekend. I'm blowing right through it and book two doesn't come out until December. I really wish I had known this before I started the series. I'm very impatient when I really like a series. Waiting for Harry Potter to be finished almost killed me.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend readers!

$12.00 ice? No thanks.
This day was loooong. I ended up working late and I was already super tired. I shouldn't complain though because the attorneys work way more hours than I do. They also get paid more. I prefer making less money and not working super long hours. I also prefer being busy rather than twiddling my thumbs all day and right now we are Busy with a Capital B.
On my way home I ran into my friend Sully on the T. I don't see her that often so it was nice to catch up since I pretty much never see her anymore.
I didn't even talk about last night in my earlier post because I was too distracted by sushi. After work I met up with the boyfriend for a few drinks. My co-workers were going to Whiskey's, as per usual, but Dave wanted to try Towne. I was fine with a change of pace and didn't even mention my co-workers were going to Whiskey's until we got to Towne. Dave felt bad that I wasn't hanging out with my co-workers. I told him I see them for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, I think we see each other plenty. Dave orders his usual drink (Johnny Walker on the rocks) and it's all ice! Towne is suppose to be this classy bar and they can't get a simple drink like that right? Dave plucks some ice out and puts it on a napkin. We get the bill and the ice with a dash of Johnny Walker was $12.00! Is this for real? It's only $6.00 at Whiskey's and they know how much ice to put in it. No thanks Towne, you can keep you pricey ice and sucky appetizer selection.
I wonder if the boyfriend reads my blog. I don't think he does but he knows I blog. He also knows my twitter handle so he could easily find it. If you're reading, hi Dave!
Bed time for this girl.

DTP - Down to pumkin
My boss sent me a text yesterday asking me to call him. I almost had a panic attack. When I called back the first thing he said was not to worry, he just wanted to know if I could stay a bit late Monday night. Relief!
Anywho, I've got a lot to do today work wise but I wanted to share my lovely Sunday lunch/coffee date with Melissa. I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season.

It's really starting to feel like fall. It just got right in there and told summer to peace out.

We put the fun in function.
Last night we had a little bachelorette party for my co-worker Carrie.
There she is in the leopard.
We started with drinks and apps at Joe's American Bar and Grill. We drank giant glasses of sangria which were pretty tasty. I'm officially retiring sangria until next summer.
After Joe's we moved on to Whiskey's where Dave joined us. Hopefully my co-workers didn't scare him too bad. We tried to use the photo booth but it was broken! Sad times.
I'm super lucky to work with such awesome people. They keep me entertained throughout the day.

Must acquire feather boa.
Friday night was KL's bachelorette party. She kept insisting it was just a girls night out. I told as many people as possible she was getting married as a reminder that this was her bachelorette party.
We had dinner and cocktails at this restaurant called Cuchi Cuchi. It was delicious and I loved the atmosphere. Old school glamor. It was like I was in the Great Gatsby. I ate dinner with a feather boa.
After dinner we headed down the street to Phoenix Landing for some dancing. I'm pretty sure the guy that was hitting on me was gay he just didn't know it yet. I danced on a bench to Backstreet Boys. The music was awesome.
I stopped by the Tavern on the way home. Recognized a client's ex-wife. I think she knew who I was too. Awkward.
I stayed in Saturday night and went to bed at 9. I woke up with my left eye watering like crazy and my eyes burning. I need to get me some eye drops stat. Allergies are so hot. So is crying from one eyeball.

I got flowers but still no car
Today is Administrative Professionals Day. I got gift cards for itunes and Barnes & Noble AND pink roses.
The attorneys also treated us to lunch. Due to my being a diligent little worker bee I had to eat my lunch later in the kitchen. I was sad I didn't get to eat with everyone else but there was a rush project that had to be done. I think I earned my goodies. I'm going to head to Barnes & Noble tomorrow and buy a ton of books.
I left work early to pick up my car. My mother picked me up from the train station and gave me a ride to the mechanic. I start my car and none of the electronics are working - my radio, my interior lights, my AC, nothing. Something is still wrong with my car.
Luckily my mother waited around to make sure my car was ok. We wrote a note for the mechanic and I go back to my car to get my key only to discover that I locked my key in my car. At this point I start crying. I have to call AAA to break into my car - my car that is not fixed. It's a bit ridiculous if you think about it. I'm pretty sure the tow truck guys were laughing at me. I would be laughing at me.
Let's hope tomorrow is a calmer day.
