On getting sucked into watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer all over again

Has anyone else been sucked into Buffy the Vampire Slayer all over again now that it's on Netflix instant? I was in junior high when Buffy first aired and I was instantly hooked. I loved the characters, the dialogue and the story lines. I laughed and I cried. Oh did I cry. I was a mess when Angel lost his soul and turned back into Angelus. As I'm watching the series again I'm emailing with some of my favorite blogger ladies, discussing our favorite episodes (such as Hush and Normal Again) and our not so favorite story lines (Riley anyone?).

Basically, the whole point of this post is that Buffy is still an amazing series and I can't believe how long ago 1997 actually was.

And if you like Buffy you should check out HEX. It's like Buffy but there's a lesbian ghost and Michael Fassbender.

  1. I only watched Buffy intermittently during high school. And then, one fateful night during uni, I watched the last episode of season 5. And from then on, I was addicted.

I seem to rewatch it at least every year or so, although I tend to skip season 4 because with the exception of Hush and Fear Itself, it's pretty terrible.

My all time favourite episode is Tabula Rasa. It's a little bit of everything that's spectacular about BtVS rolled into one episode!

Shall definitely have to check out HEX if it stars Michael Fassbender!!!

    1. Yes, HEX is awesome but the Buffy type character Ella D doesn't show up until near the end of the first season but Fassbender is there the whole season.

  4. 1997? That makes me feel so old...I was actually part of a club in school that watched Buffy at dinner time. Though I partly went to get away from everyone and sit in the dark for an hour or so. But I did like the show, I can't and won't deny that. Sometimes I get tempted to watch it again, but there are so many things I want to watch.

  5. I've it all the way through so many times...the first time around, when it hit cable syndication in college, when it came out on DVD, and then when it hit Netflix and I forced my boyfriend to watch it. He loved it three episodes in (keeper!).

I'll definitely check out HEX! I love recommendations!

  6. You guys talking about it has inspired me to get Netflix and watch it all over again. But Seriously I was in love with Oz, where can I find me one of him?

  7. I actually haven't gone back through Buffy in a few years, even though I have the whole run on DVD. Perhaps that's something to do over the summer while the TV schedule is quieter. I do miss hanging out in Sunnydale every now and then. :)

(Also, I like Riley. He and Buffy weren't right for each other, but he's a decent guy who tries hard.)

    1. I didn't mind Riley, I just didn't like his whole back story weird soldier thing.

  8. I have never seen a single episode. But thanks to Netflix, now I might!

  9. Netflix over here is rubbish, the selection is shocking, and even though I've looked everywhere for cheapy versions of the Buffy seasons I have yet to find them so it'll be a while before I join you all on this epic viewing!

    Still. I have my BSG.

  10. omfg, Buffy was amazing. Hush is fantastic, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of "Once More With Feeling."

Joss Whedon is the man, and SMG rocks those vamps. Scoobies unite!

  11. I just finished the 7th season last week. It was just a letdown after the rest. I have a friend who I watch "Once More with Feeling" with just about every time we hang out. That one will always be my favorite.

  12. I never even watched it until it was on Netflix. I was one of those kids who feared watching "scary" stuff after an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? scared me half to death. However, I think it was better that I waited to watch Buffy until I could actually appreciate it.
