Fried okra, ghetto casino and Newport rules

I have returned from my mini vacay. It was pretty awesome despite almost getting heat stroke from my car's AC being dead. Luckily our hotel had an outdoor pool for us to recover in.

Newport, RI is awesome. You have tons of restaurants, bars, ocean, and mansions. There is also a ghetto slots casino right across from our hotel where we got to see a middle aged man play the saxophone and sing sexy back.

I also managed to make Derek take a picture with me. He's very anti picture and I'm very pro pictures. Maybe because I like blogging and documenting. My suggestion to getting someone to take a picture with you who does not like pictures is to have an insistent Spanish woman come up to you and tell you she is going to take a picture of you for you.

So let's get to the pictures.

Is this a drowning statue? I mean that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this.

Fried okra! One of my favorite fried foods.

Outdoor bars with ocean views everywhere. Love it.

Finally! A picture of Mr. I don't like photos.

The ghetto casino with Mr. Sax-o-beat. We couldn't stop laughing. The 40 something year old ladies were loving him. We saw him chatting a few up outside. We did not win anything at the slots. Oh well.

King bed, yes please!

Rough day of vacationing

Thank you Spanish lady for forcing picture number 2. She was really cute and insisted that we needed a "couple" pic with the ocean in the background.

Cliff walk. One of my favorite parts of Newport

I guess you better stay on the paved path.

My summer home. No big deal.

I wish we could have stayed another night but it was nice to get away even if it was just for a night. I'm sure I'll be back to Newport soon considering it's really not that far from Boston. I guess now I need to get back into work mode which is going to be hard after having 3 days off. I hope you guys had a great weekend.

  1. The Spanish lady was right, you did need a picture like that. The two of you look great together too :) It's a shame you were there for such a short time, but you still managed to get a lot packed in.

  6. I wish we could all go to Newport. The city probably wouldn't know what to do with all of us ha ha.

  7. G doesn't like pictures either. I only have three pictures of us together and we've been dating for almost a year now. And it's crazy because he looks way better than me in every single one of them.
