Camping continued including #clownboob

My right wrist and hand are killing me right now. I'm sure it's from too much typing and interneting. I should be taking it easy but I must blog! I have a problem. I swear I'm going to rest after this post. I'm going to watch a bit of the DNC and then head to bed.

I only have a few pictures on my camera from camping since I forgot to charge the battery but I promised to reveal clown boob and reveal I shall.

Chris shows off the clown boob. I'd really like to know who thought this was a good design for a balloon. I wasn't the only one who instantly started cracking up the second we saw it. This then led into a whole conversation about clown strippers and that is just a horrifying thought. Don't think about it, I'm sorry I brought it up.

Here's Derek playing horse shoes. I don't think he knew I was being sneaky and taking pictures. This is your life when you date a blogger ha ha.

I read up on kittens. That silky fur was SOFT.

It's not camping without a fire! I like my marsh mellows burnt for future reference.

Until next year camping. It was fun times.

Dirty feet means successful camping trip

I'm back from my camping trip. My camera died after only taking a few pictures because I forgot to charge it before I left. You'll have to wait to see the photo of the mysterious "clown boob".

The weather was pretty nice during the day but a little cold at night. I've been camping forever so I knew to pack tons of layers. I looked like a miss matched hobo but I was warm. Derek wasn't going to pack a sweatshirt but I made him. Don't be fooled by a nice warm day. It gets really cool at night in Plymouth. Just ask the pilgrims.

I was semi internet less. I did check my email and facebook from my phone though. I was trying to be sneaky about it but Derek caught me. I can't help it! I like to be connected. I didn't carry it around with me though, I kept it in the tent or in the car and only checked it once or twice a day.

Oh and I used gimp. Remember gimp? It's awesome. I missed it.

More pictures coming. I need to go scrub the crap out of my feet.

I do a killer whale impersonation

Today I imitated a whale in a pool. All you need is one noodle, some water in the noodle and then a deep breath to blow the water out of your imitation blow hole. Tony's granddaughter found this pretty funny and we were both spouting water in the pool. I then made her guess what type of whale I was.

I took some of my mom's yarn so I can start crocheting again. Unfortunately my whale imitation is better than my crocheting at the moment. I know the basics but want to try to crochet something besides another scarf.

I avoided french fries twice this weekend. I'm quite proud of myself. I had two salads for dinner instead and they were both really good. I drank some sangria and was pretty happy about that. I forgot that it exists and I was like, why am I not drinking that? I love sangria. I'd like to try to make it myself.

Now I'm waiting for my hair to dry so I can go to bed. I don't like sleeping with chlorine hair and the cats kept licking my legs like weirdos. Enjoy that chlorine skin guys.

What I found in CVS

The alternate title for this post is "I ate everything in Brookline". I just wanted to eat everything yesterday. Aren't you suppose to be less hungry in the heat? Not me.

I have the rest of this week off of work and what have I been doing with my time? Eating, sleeping and finding ridiculous items in CVS.

"Eat me you shall"
"No Yoda, I will not eat you."
Who decided this was going to be a product? Just six Weezer songs. And let's sell this at CVS.

The classy way to keep cool. Cheap fan with m&m's attached.

I'm seriously considering going back to CVS for a My Little Pony with rainbow hair. I become five years old again and really wanted it. I decided against it since I didn't want to pay $8.00. But I'm now remembering I have CVS extra bucks and I could only pay $3.00 for it.

Today my lazy staycation shall continue. Hopefully I'll meet up with Derek for lunch and then later Magic Mike and magic tavern time? I have to get some laundry and cleaning in there but it's a lot of work being lazy. Where would I find the time?

AC goes in tomorrow. THANK YOU BABY JESUS. I have been hot. The poor kitties have been really hot too.

Fried okra, ghetto casino and Newport rules

I have returned from my mini vacay. It was pretty awesome despite almost getting heat stroke from my car's AC being dead. Luckily our hotel had an outdoor pool for us to recover in.

Newport, RI is awesome. You have tons of restaurants, bars, ocean, and mansions. There is also a ghetto slots casino right across from our hotel where we got to see a middle aged man play the saxophone and sing sexy back.

I also managed to make Derek take a picture with me. He's very anti picture and I'm very pro pictures. Maybe because I like blogging and documenting. My suggestion to getting someone to take a picture with you who does not like pictures is to have an insistent Spanish woman come up to you and tell you she is going to take a picture of you for you.

So let's get to the pictures.

Is this a drowning statue? I mean that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this.

Fried okra! One of my favorite fried foods.

Outdoor bars with ocean views everywhere. Love it.

Finally! A picture of Mr. I don't like photos.

The ghetto casino with Mr. Sax-o-beat. We couldn't stop laughing. The 40 something year old ladies were loving him. We saw him chatting a few up outside. We did not win anything at the slots. Oh well.

King bed, yes please!

Rough day of vacationing

Thank you Spanish lady for forcing picture number 2. She was really cute and insisted that we needed a "couple" pic with the ocean in the background.

Cliff walk. One of my favorite parts of Newport

I guess you better stay on the paved path.

My summer home. No big deal.

I wish we could have stayed another night but it was nice to get away even if it was just for a night. I'm sure I'll be back to Newport soon considering it's really not that far from Boston. I guess now I need to get back into work mode which is going to be hard after having 3 days off. I hope you guys had a great weekend.

The seagulls stole my twizzlers

It's been really hot here in Boston and lucky for me I have a few days off from work so I decided to go to the beach yesterday. I went to Crane Beach in Ipswich Mass which I've never been too before. It looks like your typical New England Beach. Nice white sand, pretty clean and asshole seagulls who steal your twizzlers.

These two girls on the beach were wasted. It was pretty funny. They were just rolling around in the sand trying to scare away the seagulls and bury eachother. We saw them drinking from a bag on the beach.

While Melissa and I were in the water some of the seagulls found our twizzlers and scattered them all over our blanket. I saw them from the water but the tide was going out so it took me a while to get back to the blanket. It was too late to save the twizzlers.

It's still really hot here. I wanted to get my car inspected today but we're pushing 100 today and I do not want to be outside too long in that. Tomorrow Derek and I are going to Newport, RI. A little change from our original vacation plans but who cares! I love Newport and I love vacation.

Beach day and I'm a #landshark

I had a vacation day yesterday so I grabbed Melissa and we hit the sand at Singing Beach in Manchester, Mass. I have a goal this summer and that's to get to the beach at much as possible. Tough goal right? I love the ocean even though New England water is usually freezing. I can't imagine not living a short drive away from the ocean. How do you guys do it in the mid west?

In case you've never looked at any pictures I post on my blog you should know I'm really white. Like vampire white. Melissa is pretty white too. I put on sunblock like it's my job. Melissa puts on a straw hat. We are the old ladies of the beach.

We were in the weirdest mood yesterday. I keep doing an Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter impression.

"You know what they say about my hat? It's the tops!"

Ugh I know, worst joke ever. It's a shame that all of you missed my amazing Abe Lincoln voice.

We ate some ice cream on a bench and then I saved a lady bug who was flipped upside down. Huzzah!

We spend a good part of the day being landsharks. Thank you Jenna Marbles for unleashing the landshark on the world.

20sb Blog swap

This post is part of the 20sb blog swap.  Mariel blogs over at Silly Style which is where you can find my summer themed post.  It involved wasps, throwing up and a letter from my grandmother.  I'm very jealous of Mariel's travels.  Check out her blog for beautiful photos and more travel tales.

Summer is my favorite season of the year. I’m currently living in northern Italy, so it’s usually cloudy and cold. The good thing about living here is that you get to travel to many different countries with low cost European companies, such as Ryan Air.

So this summer, my husband and I decided to go to Croatia. We had no idea of where to stay or what to do there, but we were sure we were going to have lots of fun.
We took the bus from Trieste (Italy) and moved all the way down to Zadar (Croatia). We stayed there for three days and we visited Zadar’s old town and its port. There lots of tourists, but unlike many other European cities where you can hear people speaking Spanish, English, and German, I noticed that in Zadar there were mostly English people and Eastern Europeans (Austria, Slovakia, and Poland).

After Zadar, we moved down to Split and took a ferry to Hvar (island). A soon as I saw Hvar and its coastline, I knew it was going to be hard to say goodbye to this place. Hvar has the clearest waters I’ve ever seen in my life (well, it shares first place with Formentera). You can tell Hvar is a place where the super rich like to spend their vacations, but you never feel secluded, you always feel welcomed by the locals and they are always very nice to you.

There are other small islands close to Hvar and you can visit them in one day. There are taxi boats that take you there or you can take the excursion boat, which is usually cheaper and your ticket includes a lunch.

I know many people think that this is something difficult to do and expensive as well, but I assure you anyone can visit places like this, it just takes a little planning and searching and reading all the information about the place you want to travel to (Wikipedia, Lonely Planet and the country’s official tourism site are great references). We traveled with our backpacks and a really tight budget, but we managed to eat and move around for an entire week with our few euros.

To save ourselves some money, we took the overnight ferry from Hvar to Ancona (Italy) and we slept on the deck’s floor. Many people do this because it’s cheaper and by being an overnight trip, they also save on hotels.

We then took the train from Ancona to Milan, and another one from Milan to Bergamo, which is the town we live in.

It was a very nice trip. But now, we can only think of sleeping in our own beds and not waking up till noon!

Hope you liked my summer story. I’ll post some of the photos later today, so you want to check them out. I really hope you’ll like those ones too.

Have a great day!

Mariel

Cob it

Is this not a delicious looking piece of corn?  I love summer food.
