A not so good tradition and happy 4th

I'm blogging this hungover while eating a bowl of mac and cheese for breakfast. The breakfast of hangover champions. I somehow always manage to do this. I go out on July 3rd and wake up feeling like hell on July 4th. You'd think I'd learn by now.

Let me share one of the more memorable July 4th hangovers. A few years ago I met up with the Brookline crew at the Publick House for "a few drinks". I told myself I wasn't going to stay long since I was leaving in the morning to go camping. I ordered an Alagash White. The bartender tells me they are out of Alagash White but they have Alagash Triple. My mind did not process that triple = way high alcohol content and you will regret this later. Halfway through my third Tripel it started to hit me hard. But I wasn't going to leave that beer unfinished. After my tripple Tripel Andy offered my some of his beer. It was the most disgusting beer I've ever tasted. It was sour and strong. I only had a small amount of that but apparently that was enough.

We all leave to go across the street to Golden Temple and that's the last thing I remember before waking up  gin Melissa's bed. I look at her clock and it's a little after 10. The time I wanted to be on the road by. I drag myself out of bed and look at my phone. I have a text that says "you looked like you were having fun dancing last night :)". I don't recognize the number. I show the text to Melissa who has woken up at this point and she starts cracking up because it's Andy. Andy is also Melissa's ex. Just great. Also great that I don't remember dancing at Golden Temple. The only thing I remember is throwing up in a park at some point.

The driving home from Brookline to Somerville I thought I was going to die. The second I got home I started throwing up and continued to do so for two hours while watching the to Catch a Predator marathon. My uncle is calling me to find out where I am. I finally pull myself together and drive to the camp ground in Plymouth where I spend most of the 4th dying in a tent. I vow to never drink again. I think we've all been there.

I feel one hundred times better today than I did that July 4th. I also hope America appreciates how hard I partied for the sake of it's birthday.

  1. I'm sure America appreciates it :) It's a good night you had if you don't remember. If you do remember it, you clearly didn't drink enough.

    1. If you drink enough you can hear America telling you this.
