Don't eat too much catnip

I found a statue cat the other day.

I've seen this cutie before on the same porch. You don't see too many cats outside in my area. Lots of cats in windows because people like to keep their cats indoors since it's the city and people here drive like they're in the Fast and the Furious Boston drift.

It's been cooler here, right when I get my AC in. Melissa and I enjoyed some evening dinner and drinks and then we stole clippings of a spider plant from her boyfriend's porch. Apparently spider plants are non-toxic to cats. I'm really excited about this because I want plants but Mr. Binx likes to chew on them. I'm also growing some catnip and cat grass for the kitties. I sent my mom an email about this because I like to email my mother random things.

I got a spider plant clipping and apparently they are non toxic to cats so I can have a plant! Although I will probably hang it in the kitchen anyways. I’m also growing catnip and cat grass.

My mother's response:

I don’t have a spider plant but have a couple of spiders…don’t eat too much catnip

Thanks for the advice mom.

Cat voicemails

Sorry if I got you all excited with that title thinking that I trained my cats to leave voicemails. If that was the case I would be rich and rolling around in catnip with the kitties.

My mother left me a voicemail about her cat, Mr. Binx. The star of the sink video. For those of you who don't know, although Mr. Binx lives with me he is my mother's cat. He beats up my mom's boyfriend's dog so I took him in so that my mother could move in with her boyfriend. She still pays his vet bill and gives me food and litter. She is still the mom. After seeing the video she left me a voicemail.

"Hi Ginny. I saw the video of Mr. Binx drinking from the sink, it's really cute. I just wanted to let you know that he likes the water to be run slower so he can drink it with out being splashed. Just thought I'd let you know. Ok, bye."

I don't really have much else to say except that I stared at my phone for a second and started cracking up. This is a typical voicemail from my mom. I informed Mr. Binx that I would run the water slower for him.

Never let a parent pick their own email address

My mother needed to create a new email address. She usually used her work email but wanted a separate email for personal use. She asked my brother and I our opinion on her email address choice.

Mom: what do you think about "twoteabags"?
Me: ..........................
My brother: ...........................
Me: Mom, is this a joke?"
Mom: What's wrong with "twoteabags"? I like two tea bags in my cup of tea.
My brother: Mom no! You can't use that!
Mom: Why not?! It's available.
Me: Have you heard of "tea bagging"?
Mom: No, what's that?
My brother: We can't tell you, just trust us and don't use that as your email address.
Mom: Why!
Me: It's a sexual reference and I can't tell you what it is. Just please think of something else!

The best part of this whole conversation was that my mother was also going to use this as her user name for a dating website. My brother and I could not stop laughing and my poor mother was like what is going on! I just want to set up an email address!

If you don't know what tea bagging is I probably would not google it. I would be afraid of what would come up. I'm also a bit worried of what search terms will now lead people to this blog.

New laptop and a possible future appearance on hoarders.

I finally got a new laptop! It's a party up in here!

Watch out, I now have a built in webcam.

I brought the new laptop home Monday and you would think that I would have been blogging my little heart out but I spent most of my time adding music to my ipod. I've been listening to the same music for months since I was using a borrowed laptop and didn't want to upload all my music onto it. Now I'm in musical ipod bliss.

Work has been busy and I'm not done Christmas shopping. I keep thinking that I have more time and then I look at the date and realize, no I really do not have more time. Stop playing with your new laptop and taking fake party pictures and get some shopping done!

Well I did do some shopping...for myself. But I really needed new underwear and then there were ruffles on a pair and damn you Victoria's Secret for making cute underwear! Tomorrow I will finish. My building is attached to a mall which helps.

Speaking of shopping my mother is going crazy with buying toys. She doesn't plan on giving them to children she's going to save them so she can sell them years from now when they go up in value. Or so she says. She asked me if there were Lady Ga Ga dolls because apparently she thinks that's going to be a good one to save.

I'm going to be that crying adult child on hoarders aren't I?

...............

First day of winter and it's in the 50s here in Boston. Wha? The weather has been very abnormal this fall. I'm use to freezing my ass off by now.

Company floor party is today. Should be interesting. I'm in charge of picking out wine and beer. I'm bringing my co-worker Megan with me to help because she actually knows what wine is good. I just go by which label on the bottle is the most fun.

The Genie Bra is the next Pajama Jeans

Mom:  So when I got home the other day I started to fall asleep on the couch when I started to hear some commercial about bras.

Me: ok....

Mom:  They started talking about how comfortable these bras are and I just got sucked in so I called them.  I think I'm getting some extra ones and I may have entered to win a trip to Aruba but I'm not sure...

Me:  So you may or may not have extra bras and a trip to Aruba?

Mom:  Well I ordered the bras.  They're called the Genie Bra and they're suppose to be the most comfortable bra ever.  They said "do you have under wire that pokes you?"  and I was like "yes that's me!"  I don't normally order stuff from the tv.  I don't know what got into me and then the woman on the phone started talking about a trip to Aruba.  I just wanted the bras.

Me:  I think you just ordered the pajama jeans of bras.

Mom:  They're back ordered so they must be popular.  I'll give you some when they come in.

Me:  I think I'm all set mom.

Seriously.  Look at these things!  Not hot.
